The Social Rebellion with Maz Compton

Do you drink (alcohol) a bit too much a bit too often? Is your schedule ruled by 'catching up for drinks' and do you secretly find it hard to say "no, thanks" when it comes to the booze?

Society has a dangerous currency: Alcohol - we drink at any occasion, for any reason - be it sad, bad or brilliant - and we fail to understand exactly why we are addicted to it despite the intoxication, hangover and ill-feelings of regret or shame.

Maz Compton has been a fixture in Australia media for over a decade, from the early days of hosting MTV, to the heights of hosting a National Breakfast Show. She got her break on MTV as a VJ (video jockey), spent a few years on red carpets, attending music festivals and interviewed pretty much every celebrity you can think of including her girl crush Sandra Bullock, hip hop star Kanye West, from Coldplay, Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers to pop icons Lady Gaga and Katy Perry and Aussie stars Wolfmother, Guy Sebastian and Margot Robbie.

Maz found herself on a late night radio show in 2010, in 2014 she was crowned Cosmopolitan's Women of the Year in Radio, then in 2015, she launched her own digital interview series as the entertainment specialist with rebranded digital platform Yahoo 7 Be. On January 1, 2015 Maz decided to experiment with living alcohol-free for 31 days and (six years later) has not had a single drink. During this time she experienced an ‘Aha moment’ that ignited a passion to create a platform that helps people redefine their relationships with alcohol and discover true freedom.

After over a decade of fun making headlines and memories in media, Maz redirected her attention to health and wellness. She is now a qualified Wellness Coach, owns a fitness studio and is currently studying a degree in psychology.

Join me on today’s episode as Maz Compton shares her story on manifesting her dream job and The Social Rebellion - a movement helping people redefine their relationship with alcohol, equipping them with better coping strategies, rewriting social norms and addressing the unspoken shame of drinking to cope with life.

“Life is the sum total of all your choices, so make good ones” - Maz
