The Power Within Is Infinite with Cleveland McGhie

The power within us is too often undervalued and overlooked. If we don’t value ourselves for the unique individual we are, how can we value each other for the unique individual they are?

Cleveland McGhie is an Aboriginal man raised in Dharawal community, with bloodline connections to the Wiradjuri community of Condobolin (NSW) and the Ngunnawal / Ngambri people of the ACT regions. Playing semi professional Rugby League with the Canberra Raiders, Newcastle Knights and more recently in the Canterbury Bulldogs NSWCup squad before COVID, had a major impact on Cleveland’s life and leadership journey.

Join me as Cleveland shares how Rugby League gave him the greatest of all time (GOAT) coach, where he learnt that it’s not about what he achieves, that he’s the captain or best player in the team, but rather the one who inspires others by supporting them to get the awards and titles.

Like many Aboriginal leaders, Cleveland feels the responsibility, strength and resilience of his ancestors, to ensure meaningful and long-lasting impact in our communities and society. His motivation is driven by his passion to inspire people to look beyond their current situation, to be bigger than the limitations set by society and to better themselves through education.

Cleveland believes and advocates that having infinite power starts with valuing ourselves, our strengths, weaknesses, values, beliefs, bias, privilege; and when we value and appreciate who we are, what comes naturally is an appreciation and compassion for valuing others, as the unique individual they are.
